Abstract

Relevance. The lack of legislative regulation of the legal institution of mediation in criminal proceedings strengthens the interest of scientists in reasoned research on this topic. The purpose of the article is to study certain aspects of the legal institution of mediation in the Russian criminal process, as well as to argue its prospects for law enforcement. Conclusions. The article analyzes the perspective of one of the types of simplified criminal procedure – the legal institute of mediation. The necessity of its consolidation at the legislative level is substantiated in order to relieve, to a greater extent, the judicial apparatus from considering a large number of crimes of small and medium gravity committed for the first time.
